Joyce Meyer: Promises for Your Everyday Life - a Daily Devotional
Day 64 of 365 God Is the Only Lasting Source
As human beings we are created by God to be happy and to feel good about ourselves. As a matter of fact, we must feel good about ourselves, or eventually we will develop some sort of unhealthy, uncontrolled behavior to get the good feelings we crave.
Think about it. A person who is addicted to drugs probably began using them because his pain was so intense he felt compelled to get rid of it, even if only temporarily. The same thing is true of drinking, or using food as a comfort. If we do not get good feelings from the inside, then we attempt to create them through outside means.
God created us that way and He's the only one who can satisfy us. When we go to something other than God to make us feel good about ourselves, we're really just replacing something real with a cheap substitute.
Whatever your emotional needs are today, know that only God can meet them. He is the only lasting source of life. Go to Him today, He's the only One who can satisfy.
Prayer Starter: God, I don't want to waste my time chasing cheap substitutes. You are the only One who can satisfy. Show me how to daily find my true delight and satisfaction in You and only You.
4 Delight yourself also in the Lord , And He shall give you the desires of your heart. 40 And the Lord shall help them and deliver them; He shall deliver them from the wicked, And save them, Because they trust in Him.This plan was provided by... Joyce Meyer: Promises for Your Everyday Life - a Daily Devotional
Day 56 of 365 Setting Your Enemies Free
When dealing with past hurts, we all know that it's right to forgive, even when it's difficult. However, few of us rarely take the next step that God wants us to take.
A common misconception is that all we have to do is make the decision to forgive and our job is finished, but Jesus also said, "Invoke blessings upon and pray for the happiness of those who curse you, implore God's blessing (favor) upon those who abuse you [who revile, reproach, disparage, and high-handedly misuse you]" (Luke 6:28 AMP). In addition, Romans 12:14 says that we are to bless the people who persecute us and treat us cruelly.
We are to actively bless our enemies. God calls us to extend mercy to people who do not deserve it. Why?
When you forgive, it opens a door for God to heal you, but honestly, it doesn't do much for the person who offended you. But when you bless them, you ask God to bring truth to them so they can repent and experience the real freedom He provides. Forgiveness sets you free...blessing your enemies sets them free.
Prayer Starter: God, I thank You for helping me walk in forgiveness, but I don't want to stop there. I ask You to bless those who have hurt me. In the same way that You have brought healing to my life, bring healing to them so they can experience Your goodness and walk in Your love.
14 Bless those who persecute you; bless and do not curse. This plan was provided by... We would like to thank Joyce Meyer Ministries for their generosity in providing "Promises for Your Everyday Life." If you would like more information, please visit: www.joycemeyer.org

"Samsung xcover 2"Labels: Apple, Electronics, Google, HTC, LG, Mobile, Motorola, Nokia, SonyTop 5 Most Durable High-end Smartphones You Can Buy
There are a number of factors affecting the purchase of a smartphone, such as the display, operating system, processor power, and price. Among them, I believe durability is also pretty important. There are protective cases for all types of smartphones, although they more or less make the phone look weird. I have never used protective case on my smartphones, although some of them have really needed them.
A few days ago, I picked up one of the most popular smartphones in the industry—Samsung Galaxy S3. I was impressed by the amazing hardware features it offered. However, when I picked it up, I could immediately feel the cheap plastic build of the phone that turned me off a bit. Many of Samsung's phones lack in build quality, and that is the reason why none of the Samsung smartphones is there in this list. In the low end, probably the only Samsung device that can withstand any wear and tear is X-Cover Xtreme.
The same is the case with Sony. Xperia line of smartphones contains devices mostly of plastic build, save for Xperia P that has an aluminum unibody design.
Compare Samsung devices with those of some other manufacturers in the industry, and you will immediately feel the difference.
There are a number of water-resistant smartphones out there, including the upcoming Sony Xperia Z. However, water-resistance is definitely not the only attribute of durability. How more often do you swim with your smartphone than drop it?
In the following count-down, we have five high-end smartphones, and we will be discussing body-specific features.6. LG Optimus G & Google Nexus 4
Optimus G is LG's most advanced smartphone to date, and it is built with superb quality. The back of the device is made of tough DuPont Kevlar fiber and it is reinforced with a thin film of Corning Gorilla Glass. You may have heard of Kevlar; it is the same material used for building bulletproof vests.
The smartphone's display is protected by Gorilla Glass 2. Google Nexus 4 is also manufactured by LG and has similar hardware specifications and build quality. The Gorilla Glass at the back may be susceptible to somewhat rough use. But overall, both of these smartphones are really durable.
Buy Optimus G from Amazon or Best Buy.5. HTC Windows Phone 8X
The smartest thing about this phone is that it is pretty thin and light-weight. Coupled with its unibody design makes Windows Phone 8X one of the most durable. On the front, you have Corning Gorilla Glass 2, and the back is made of tough polycarbonate, making it suitable for rough usage.
You can get the phone at Amazon or Best Buy.4. Motorola Droid Razr Maxx HD
In terms of build quality, Motorola keeps a very high standard. Razr Maxx HD is a smartphone with a huge 4.7 inch screen and amazing hardware features. It is also slightly heavier than its competitors. It uses the first edition of Corning Gorilla Glass (the version 2 and now 3 have come out) to protect the display. This makes the glass less scratch-resistant than some other devices out there.
What really separates Razr Maxx HD is its back, which is not plastic or metal. It is made of DuPont Kevlar synthetic fiber as in Optimus G. This doesn't make the device essentially bulletproof though! It however survives extreme levels of rough usage.
The only disadvantage is that it uses Gorilla Glass 1, and the glass could break on a six-foot drop.
Get Verizon Droid Razr Maxx HD at Verizon Wireless or Best Buy.3. HTC One
This is an update. HTC One is one of the most awesome Android smartphones to hit the market. It has experienced a drop test too. In an XDA Developers Forum thread, a user accidentally dropped the phone and posted about it. The phone did have a few chips on its aluminum sides. One thing that places HTC One right below iPhone 5 is the fact that it has a regular aluminum body, rather than an anodized aluminum in case of iPhone 5. The front of the phone is well protected with Gorilla Glass and that will not scratch on your occasional drops.
HTC has done a great job with the design of the phone as well. It is one of the most gorgeous Android phones in the market, and could rival the iPhone in terms of aesthetics.
The phone is available at Amazon2. Apple iPhone 5
Apple iPhone 5, just as all of the previous iPhone versions, comes with pretty amazing build quality. It is very thin and probably the lightest of all high-end smartphones. Its unibody design is made using anodized aluminum, and it is slightly different from iPhone 4S and iPhone 4, which had their back covered by tough scratch-resistant glass.
We don't have any indication that Apple is using Corning Gorilla Glass for screen protection. But on multiple drop tests, the iPhone screen didn't show any sign of wear and tear. However, there have been complaints about scuffs on the edge of iPhone 5 after a few days of rough use. This has been identified by many users. The black ceramic finish of the phone slowly fades away to reveal the underlying silvery aluminum.
Still, we recognize iPhone 5 at the top, because you can drop it from a very tall level and you will still not break the display or the internal hardware. Another important thing is that Apple does have a patent on protecting the device, which does include an orientation device that changes the orientation of the iPhone during a free fall to make sure the phone's most impact-resistant side hits the ground first.
Buy from Apple or Best Buy (several carrier options).1. Nokia Lumia 920
Nokia Lumia 920 is the toughest of all smartphones out there today. Being the heaviest smartphone could have made Lumia 920 fall behind in terms of wear resistance. However, the thickness of the Gorilla Glass 2 on top of the screen protects Lumia 920 from even tall drops. It has a unibody design with the back made of polycarbonate. Read our review of Lumia 920 which offers scratch and drop tests for the device.
Lumia 920 is available from AT&T (through Best Buy) or Amazon. Conclusion
Durability is one of the important factors that you should look for on a smartphone. With Optimus G, LG has also proved its presence among the most durable smartphone manufacturers. Apple, HTC, Motorola, and Nokia have always excelled at building phones with high-quality materials. On the other hand, Samsung and Sony have given us somewhat substandard build quality.

Motorola has updated its deceptively solid Defy ready for the Christmas smartphone buying frenzy – but has it done enough to make us want one?

PAGE 1 OF 11Overview, design and feelMotorola's original Defy appeared in the spring and we were impressed with its rugged features, packed into a relatively sleek chassis.Motorola clearly had a lot of positive feedback, because the Defy has returned. The rugged chassis features remain the same, and the Defy+ is water resistant, dustproof and scratch resistant. But the internals have been spruced up for a late 2011 market.
So, what's this rugged stuff all about then?
Essentially the chassis has been made into a sealed unit, albeit one with a removable backplate. So the backplate itself is held in place by a solid sliding lock and there's a rubber seal around the battery casing with a secondary plastic rim sealing on the backplate itself.
There are some screws around the edges of the chassis which don't actually do much to add to the ruggedness, but they do look industrial. More important as far as the Motorola Defy+ edges are concerned is that both the headset slot on the top edge and the micro USB slot on the left are protected by rubber covers.
Now, these covers are clearly a good idea, but they are also a bit of a bind. The headset one in particular is fiddly to remove, and you could well find you yank it off completely at some point. Lose these and dust and water resistance will, of course, be severely compromised.
A further help in terms of protecting vulnerable parts is that the microSD card is located under the battery. Needless to say this makes hotswapping cards impossible.
The screen is made from Gorilla Glass. Once upon a time that was something special. Now Gorilla Glass is everywhere, so the Motorola Defy+ doesn't really have a standout feature there.
Add this little lot together and you have a dustproof, water resistant and scratch resistant handset which doesn't look industrial.
The Motorola Defy+ feels comfortable in the hand. It is a little thick at 13.4mm, but in a way that just psychologically reinforces that the phone is more solid than most. Its other dimensions, 107mm x 59mm won't trouble your pocket, and it weighs an unproblematic 118g.
The shiny edges are perhaps a bit passé to look at, but the rubberised backplate is a good feature. It helps with grip and resists fingerprints, both characteristics of which we approve.
The main on/off switch on the top edge was, we felt, a bit awkward to use. There are two reasons for this. It sits quite flat to the chassis, and the casing is angled inwards towards the back, so you have to reach round a little when accessing it from the front of the phone.
On the right side there is a volume rocker and this is a bit on the small and finicky side to use too. The tricky little buttons are not a deal breaker, but they are a small point of note.
We tried the same test on the Motorola Defy+ as on the original Defy, running it under a tap for several minutes when it was switched on. It didn't stop working, though it is worth noting that capacitive touch screens don't actually work well when they are wet!
Like we said at the outset, the chassis is no different to that of the original Defy, but the innards have been upgraded a bit – but just a bit. So we have Android 2.3 instead of 2.1, the processor runs at 1GHz instead of 800MHz. and the 1540 mAh battery has been replaced by a 1700 mAh one.
There's still 2GB of storage provided on microSD card, and just over 1GB free internally too. The camera is stuck at 5 megapixels and the screen remains a 3.7-inch 480 x 854 pixel panel.
