Today I got a different view of the n
negombo lagoon. For 4 years now I never realized this but we actually lived just there.

Thai Pongal day

Today was a holiday in Sri Kanka, well not for workers at the supermarked Arpico. But they had taken the initiative and dressed up in Tamil attires in tribute to this day.

The girls wore beautiful garments and the boys in sarongs (skirts for men) and shirts.

When these 2 girls stood there I took the opportunity to take shot, had to send it to them on their emails via my mobile but that was the smallest problem. 

If you ask me what Thai pongal is  is a thanksgiving or harvest festivalcelebrated in South India at the end harvest season. It is one of the most important festivals celebrated by the Tamils in the Indian state of Tamil Nadu, the Indian Union Territory of Pondicherry^[1][2] and Sri Lanka. Pongal marks the beginning of the northward journey of the Sun from its southernmost-limit, a movement traditionally referred to as uttarayana.^[3] It coincides with the festivalMakara Sankranthi celebrated throughout India as the winter harvest,^[4] and is usually held from January 13–16 in the Gregorian calendar i.e. from the last day of the Tamil monthMaargazhi to the third day of Thai.

Det er ikke ofte en ser dette i dagligdags lenger men Idag når jeg var i byen fikk jeg se denne stå der. Minne om gamle dager da dette var den tradisjonelle tarmsåort måten i Sri Lanka.
Jeg hadde ipaden og tok bildet.

Nowadays you don't see this so often as you used to. But today as. I was downtown Negombo I got to see this and I just had to take a shot. A reminder of the olden days when this was the normal, traditional transport in Sri Lanka. I had my ipad ready and got the shot.

There you see usually the same people and same thing,.
Like this shop keeper, he is there every time we come and we end up talking for a long time. He is very jovial and tells good jokes.

Today I met an old friend too.

Traditionally we serve Milk rise with chilli and banana on the first day of the year.so we did it yesterday too, the first working day of 2013.    Tradisjonen tro serverte vi kiribath med chilli eller Lunumiris samt banan Igår til oppstart på det nye arbeidsåret. Dette er vanlig og god tradisjon, siden vår første arbeidsdag var Igår.  Det var godt å starte opp igjen og vi ser utfordringer men med stor tro på dette året.

Tradisjonen tro serverte vi kiribath med chilli eller Lunumiris samt banan Igår til oppstart på det nye arbeidsåret. Dette er vanlig og god tradisjon, siden vår første arbeidsdag var Igår.
Det var godt å starte opp igjen og vi ser utfordringer men med stor tro på dette året.
